Luncheon featuring Neil J. Werlieb

Thursday, January 17th, 2019

Neil J. Werlieb was the speaker at the January 17, 2019 luncheon event.  Neil Wertlieb is the former Chairman of the California State Bar’s Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct. He teaches transactional skills as an Adjunct Professor at UCLA Law School, and is the current Chairman of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee. After receiving his B.S. from U.C. Berkeley in 1980, Neil earned his JD from the U.C. Berkeley School of Law in 1984. He practiced transactional law for over 30 years, including two decades as a partner at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP.

Neil discussed the comprehensive set of new Rules of Professional Conduct that were approved by the California Supreme Court on May 10, 2018. These new Rules went into effect on November 1, 2018, replacing the Rules of Professional Conduct that previously governed the conduct of California attorneys. The presentation focused on Rules that implement important changes to the previous Rules or that impose new obligations in California.
